How Does Reiki Work?

Our physical body is alive because of the life force energy that is flowing through it. If our life force is low or blocked, we are more likely to become ill. However, if it is high and free-flowing, we are more easily able to maintain our health and well-being. When there has been physical or emotional trauma, the energy produced can stagnate within the body causing energy blocks. In time, these blocks can lead to illness. Reiki aims to help the flow of energy and remove these blocks. By improving the flow of energy, the body is able to relax, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.

Understanding Reiki

Reiki is a non-invasive relaxation technique that energizes the body and brings it into balance

Reiki is both a personal practice and a technique used during sessions with others. It gives valuable support and can help with stress reduction and anxiety. Reiki can support healthcare and increase a person's sense of overall well-being.

It is safe, effective, low risk, cost-efficient and has no adverse effects. Reiki does not require the recipient to have any particular beliefs, level of functioning, or participation.

Reiki originated in Japan with Kiao Usui in the early 1900's. It works with our own body systems to effectively release energetic blockages. Reiki can help to transform negative energy into positive energy and it can help to revitalize and raise our vibrations on a cellular level.

Reiki Research

Evidence-based research is somewhat limited at this time due to the complexity involved in understanding snd measuring all the advantages Reiki provides. Nevertheless, scientific evidence for Reiki will continue to develop as more and more people discover the benefits Reiki provides. Doctors and researchers are beginning to see how Reiki can support and promote health and wellness. As such, Reiki is now being used in hospitals and hospices across the country.

Emerging evidence shows the tangible benefits of Reiki include:

  • Reduced pain
